BlueFlash is proud to own and operate Ruby Runner, the most capable RIB (rigid inflatable boat) in Cape Town. She is a Gemini 8.5m built in 2008 and surveyed to SAMSA Category B standards. Power is from 2 x Suzuki DF200HP outboards (new in 2018) which give her a blistering top speed of 40 knots even if fully loaded. Cruising at 30 knots her range is approximately 200 nautical miles (370 Km) with her 275 Lt internal fuel tank. Additional fuel can be carried on deck. She is equipped with a top electronics including a GPS chart plotter, VHF radio, sounder and hull mounted side scan sonar. We also have all new safety equipment and full foul weather gear for 15 persons. Her load capacity is 2 tons of deck cargo or up to 15 passengers and crew. She has jockey style seating for 12 which can be easily be removed if required.
What makes charters onboard Ruby Runner run so smoothly and safely is the experience of her skipper; As a firm rule she is only ever skippered by Grant. Other charter operators allow their boats to be skippered by trainee and inexperienced skippers. Normally that’s no problem, everyone has to start somewhere, but when things go wrong or conditions get challenging you want to have the best skipper in charge – no problem with BlueFlash.
